Mormon Nonviolence 2009 Writing Contest

In connection with the launch of latter day satyagraha’s sister website http://mormonlutherking.com, mormongandhi is looking for a creative and prolific nonviolent practitioner or theorist who can combine his or her knowledge of mormonism with the principles and ideas taught by Martin Luther King, Jr. I know you are out there, mormon luther king!

In order to determine who the new author and administrator of this sister site will be, mormongandhi is launching its mormon nonviolence 2009 writing/art contest. The writer of the best article or web presentation of Martin Luther King, jr.’s ideas viewed through the lenses of mormonism will, on top of being charged with ‘administering’ and contributing to the new site, also get the email address: mormonlutherking(at)gmail.com. Yes, I thought you would like it.

Some people say that the webname mormongandhi is an oxymoron. Actually I say it myself, but the idea is to prove myself wrong and everyone else out there. You may find inspiration from ‘freedom letters from jail’, the first article published on http://mormonlutherking.com. It is a comparative reading of Joseph Smith’s ‘letter from Liberty Jail’ and Martin Luther King’s ‘letter from a Birmingham Jail’, or you may find inspiration from any other of Martin Luther King’s writings!

Please send your contribution to mormongandhi(at)gmail.com before 31 December 2009. All contest contributions will be posted on the new site, and the author of the winning article will be named the next ‘mormon luther king’. For any additional information about the contest, or ideas, do not hesitate to contact me on the contact form below.

Stand up for truth! Stand up for righteousness! And God will always be by your side!
